Software I use, gadgets I love, and other things I recommend.

I get asked a lot about the things I use to build software, stay productive, or buy to fool myself into thinking I’m being productive when I’m really just procrastinating. Here’s a big list of all of my favorite stuff.

Workstation

  • 13” MacBook Pro, M1, 8GB RAM (2020)

I was using an Apple Silicon based 13” MacBook Pro prior to this and the difference is night and day. I’ve almost never heard the fans turn on a single time, even under the incredibly heavy loads I put it through with our various launch simulations.

  • 24” Dell Monitor (P2417H)

The only display on the market if you want something cost friendly and with good visuals and around 24”. When you’re working on innovative ideas, every pixel you can get counts.

  • Logitech M90 Full-size corded Mouse

Something about all the simple smooth movement and gestures makes me feel like a wizard with special powers. I really like feeling like a wizard with special powers.

  • Fancy Table (from Melcom) and a Plastic Chair

If I’m going to slouch in the worst ergonomic position imaginable all day, I might as well do it in style. Basically the table is good but I haven't upgraded the chair yet

  • Vodafone Fibre Internet Broadband

It simply provides me with the best internet I could have with all the speed of Fibre optic connection has to bring

Development tools

  • JetBrains IDEs (IntelliJ, WebStorm, PyCharm and etc.

I don’t care what they say I love all of the fancy IDE features everyone else is scared of being dependent on , Simply the best IDEs ever made.

  • iTerm2

I’m honestly not even sure what features I get with this that aren’t just part of the macOS Terminal but it’s what I use.

  • Docker

Every Great engineer needs docker or he or she is simply a mechanic. Docker saved me from bloating my machine with several dependencies for my various projects over the years.

  • GitHub CoPilot

With this my code literally writes itself

  • Microsoft Edge

The all new Microsoft Edge is the goat right now, it is based on chromium and have all the useful pecks to make my life easy
